Oklahoma High School Shootout set for Saturday, Sept. 19 at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — After weather conditions canceled Friday action, the 2009 Oklahoma High School Shootout softball tournament is set to start Saturday morning at the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City, Okla. The annual tournament brings together more than 20 of the top high school softball teams from around the state for 25 games.

Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for both youth and senior citizens.

Gates open at 8 a.m. with the first pitch of the tournament scheduled for 9 a.m., weather permitting, and the last games scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game schedule as of 5 p.m. Friday is available for download at http://downloads.asasoftball.com/tournaments/2009OKHSShootout.xls.

Schools participating in the 2009 Oklahoma High School Shootout are Arapaho; Blanchard; Bristow; Checotah; Choctaw; Coalgate; Crowder; Dewar; Fletcher; Frontier; Hominy; Keota; Lawton Mac; Lookeba-Sickles; Moore; Newcastle; Oklahoma City; Purcell; Roff; Sterling; Stigler; Tushka; Tuttle; Vici; and Waukomis.

The Shootout was to include almost 40 schools but 10 schools — Apache, Blackwell, Chisholm, Comanche, Edmond Santa Fe, Elgin, Luther, Merritt, Sasakwa and Tonkawa — were scheduled to play Friday only. Inola and Wilburton also withdrew from the tournament.

The complex will again play host to the premier teams in high school softball next month. The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) State Championships are Oct. 7-9 and Oct. 14-16.
