The ASA Hall of Fame Complex underwent a face lift, thanks
to a bond issue passed by the citizens of Oklahoma City in
October of 2000.
Work on the stadium began in July of 2002, and consisted of
adding 519 new parking spaces and the construction of the new
Hall of Fame Plaza and Sports Festival Esplanade. The
Esplanade is a 300-foot long 40-foot wide walkway for vendor
tents and Fan Fest activities during the Big XII Softball
Championship and the NCAA Womens College World Series.
In addition, 3,000 additional permanent seats were added
along the first base and third base sides of the stadium, as
were new bathrooms. The additional seating increased the total
seating of the stadium to 5,000. A new upper concourse
connecting the north fields with concessions and bathrooms was
also built. Construction was completed in May 2003.
In phase II of the renovation, two new fields with lighting
and covered concrete stadium seating were built west of the
existing complex. Permanent seating was added to the north
field.
